Products & Uses
A range of cements to Irish and International Standard Specifications are produced at both the Platin and Limerick works.
Our product portfolio is designed to ensure that our customers receive cement manufactured to the highest quality standards whilst striving to minimise the carbon footprint of our activities.
Our new lower carbon CEM II Limestone cements, are now available in Bulk & Bagged delivery formats.
Normal Cement (Bulk – CEM II/A-L)
Normal Cement is a high quality general purpose cement and is suitable for most applications. The product has been specifically designed to reduce the carbon intensity of cement production and complies with the specification for Portland-limestone cement in I.S. EN 197-1 ‘Cement Part 1: Composition, Specifications and Conformity Criteria for Common Cements’. The product is independently certified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland and is CE marked.
Normal Cement (Bagged – CEM II/A-L)
Normal Cement is a high quality general purpose bagged cement and is suitable for all general concreting, block laying and plastering applications. The quality of all Normal Cement produced by Irish Cement is guaranteed to meet in full the requirements of Irish Standard I.S. EN 197-1 ‘Cement Part 1: Composition, Specifications and Conformity Criteria for Common Cements’, and the product is independently certified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland and is CE marked.
Rapid Hardening Portland Cement (CEM I)
Rapid Hardening Portland Cement (RHPC) is a special purpose cement used in concrete to achieve a higher rate of early strength development, compared to using Normal Cement. The quality of all RHPC produced by the company is guaranteed to meet in full the requirements of Irish Standard I.S. EN 197-1 ’Cement Part 1: Composition, Specifications and Conformity Criteria for Common Cements’ and the product is independently certified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland and is CE marked.
Sulfate-resisting Portland Cement
Sulfate-resisting Portland Cement (SRPC) is a special purpose cement used where sulfates are present in concentrations that would damage Normal Cement concrete. Sulfate resistance is achieved by adjustments to chemical composition to limit the level of C3A in the SRPC. The quality of all SRPC produced by the company is guaranteed to meet in full the requirements of British Standard 4027: 1996 ‘Sulfate-resisting Portland Cement’ and the product is independently certified by the British Standards Institution.
