Employee Learning & Development
At Irish Cement the continual development of our employees is a critical element of the ongoing sustainability of the company. The success that we have sustained in our business activities over 70 years is testament to the ongoing focus on the training and development of our colleagues throughout the organisation.
In more recent times the successful integration of accredited ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO14001 Environmental Management systems into our day-to-day operations has been underpinned by the continued focus on achievement of training targets in the areas of Health & Safety and technical competence development.
Objective:
Continued business performance success arising from the sustainable competitive advantage that arises from superior competence in Health & Safty and technical skills of our employees.
Targets:
Success in this area is monitored using the following key parameters:
- Percentage of employees covered by Health & Safety traning
- Percentage of employees covered by Technical skills training / development

- Training and development plans in each department within each operating facility
Performance
Sustainability Target – Employee Learning & Development
- In 2011 over 5,300 manhours of training was completed by employees of Irish Cement
- Approximately 50% of this training was Health & Safety focussed
Limerick Works:
- In 2011 100% of employees received Health & Safety related training
- In 2011 100% of employees were covered by ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO14001 Environmental Management systems
Platin Works:
- In 2011 100% of employees received Health & Safety related training
- In 2011 100% of employees were covered by ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO14001 Environmental Management systems
