Etex Ireland Cement is a bespoke product from which our customer produces Cedral Slates. These are a popular roof slate used in residential construction. Like any process, there is a fraction of waste associated with the production of Cedral Slates, whether through trimming, breakage etc. Any waste material from the production of Cedral Slates is returned to Irish Cement, where it is recycled back into our process as a raw material.
As these slates already contain cement, the CO2 associated with the processing of these materials is a small fraction of the CO2 produced when dealing with virgin raw materials.
This circularity of supply between Irish Cement and Etex Ireland helps to reduce our carbon footprint. It is a great example of the Circular Economy in action.
