Combining practical learning, structured training and support from experienced craftspeople, the programme is designed to help you develop valuable skills and grow in a supportive and high-performing environment.
Irish Cement offers a four-year apprenticeship programme in partnership with SOLAS, combining on-the-job experience with off-the-job training in colleges and training centres.
HOW TO APPLY FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP
Before applying, please complete an Ishihara Colour Vision Test, as unfortunately we cannot accept candidates who are colour blind. You should also ensure that you meet the minimum required educational standards and that these qualifications are clearly detailed in your CV so we can confirm that you meet the required criteria.
Criteria
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be able to work to the highest safety standards in accordance with OHSE regulations
- A good attitude to work and a keen interest in mechanical
or electrical tasks - Good co-ordination and manual skills
- Good attention to detail
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Able to work as part of a team or on own initiative
when required - Be eager to learn
IRISH CEMENT CRITERIA:
- Leaving certificate:
- At least five passes at ordinary level
- The five passes must include English and Maths
- Minimum of O4 on Pass Maths*
- Provide an Ishihara colour vision test or approved equivalent, must be submitted on an approved SOLAS Form
- Essential functions of the job: working at heights, manual labour, working in confined spaces, lifting, driving machinery, working outdoors in a challenging and physical environment
- Candidates will be required to attend aptitude testing
* other subjects which would be an advantage include: metalwork, physics, engineering, technology, technical drawing/graphics, construction studies, home economics

Hands-On Experience
Apprentices gain hands-on experience working in live plant environments from day one.

Training is delivered through a structured combination of on-site and external learning.
Mix of on-the-job and off-the-job training phases.

Additional health & safety and in-company training.

The programme is designed to build long-term careers and recognised qualifications.
Achieve a QQI Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate.
Develop skills across mechanical, electrical or instrumentation trades.
Build a strong foundation for future career opportunities.
